Since several comments were made about the unreferenced nature of my brief
critique of the Farm Bureau, here is a good reference:
Check out: The Corporate Reapers, A.V. Krebs, 1992.
A good charpter on the history of the Farm Bureau
And in response to the oft heard drone of "it's easy to criticize farm
practices sitting at a desk with a computer if you have never been a farmer
and seen how difficult it is"... I've never been an automobile
manufacturer, a chemical manufacturer or an oil company either, but with a
bit of data and some simple analysis, it's easy to illustrate the
environmentally problematic ways those businesses operate.
