This Farm Bureau, which as a South African and having only been here in the
U.S.A. for a few months in a graduate programme, I know very little about.
However what does interest me is certain points expressed about the Farm
Bureau's activities. There are those in favour and those opposed, as is the
case with most things in life. However what I personally would prefer
reading is what people on the critical side wish to DO about it. Constuctive
critism is a positive step which I assume persons would wish to take in the
direction of alternative agriculture. I am studying two courses with a
"Sustainable" emphasis. The basic conclusions I can draw is that it is a
PROCESS and not an achievable end in itself and secondly there is no
universally accepted definition of "Sustainable Agriculture". Thus I would
suggest that those "Sustainites" take the planks out of their own eyes
before trying to take splinters out of others. This would help us all a
great deal in getting on with the process of moving towards a more
sustainable world.
Thank-you to all of you who are concerned with the process - keep up the
good work.
