Re: Farm Bureau Bashing....and original message from:

XXX Kert Davies, analyst:, ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING GROUP
XXX "Opinions expressed are mine and not my employer's".
XXX And check the EWG web page at http://www.ewg.org

I sincerely hope these ARE truly your opinions.
There's a thrown-in advertisement for your web site. Is that yours
or your employers? What really goes?

Don't take this as another cheap shot - I'm watching my
comments....but I can't believe the level of the posting or the
accusations (unbased, as presented) therein!

X The Farm Bureau is presently one of the strongest anti-environmental
X organizations in the country, allied with the Wise Use Movement in
X opposing the Endangered Species Act and promoting "property rights" and
X "takings" legislation, aimed at forcing the government to compensate anyone
X whose polluting activities (profits) are limited by the law.

It only gets wilder as it goes.

X The Farm Bureau, FYI, is also opposed to the:
X Equal Rights Amendment
X Gay Rights
X Statehood for the District of Columbia

What does the FB have any interest in the Gay Rights movement
for whatsoever? I'd like to see some real evidence of this kind of
reaching accusation. Any of these? Somebody please comment
on behalf of the FB! There was a good question aired on the strategy
of why insurance policyholders are required to be members that are
then "spoken for". Answer that for us all - I thought that comment
provoked a good question, and probably should entertain an answer..

X It defends its members against
X grazing reform
X the National Biological Survey
X "one world government"
X and the Clean Water Act

Anything else?

XX Says Farm Bureau Dean Kleckner,"to live, is to pollute"

More than likely taken completely out of context. The fact is, this
is true - taken just exactly as is! Has Mr. Davies ever taken a
single ride in an automobile? I don't see this statement to mean at
all that we all ought to "live a little - and pollute like hell"!
We're talking major inuendo here.

X For more info, see Sierra Magazine Nov/Dec 1994, Paul Rauber, "Down
X on the Farm Bureau"

Thanks, I might just go look it up now for sure - I want to see where
this kind of stuff comes from - really the Sierra Magazine or
someone's elses interpretation of such.

Try more scientifically (or factually) backed information when posting such
inflammatory accusations. I sincerely doubt the Sierra Magazine appreciates
the extension - and I'll eat the whole crow if they legally defend any
extension as such on another medium, probably without their approval.

However, you've made the accusations. I would really like to see a
good refutation with some FACTS that are backed a little better than
someone's interpretation of an article in an opposing organization's
membership-related (?) magazine.

Let's just say I was surprised - but now my curiosity is up.
SANET was flowing along well, well better than this.
