Kert Davies' description of the Farm Bureau's interests is much more in line with the Farm
Bureau I have known and loved in the past than were the earlier descriptions mentioned on
sanet. As I understand, to buy Farm Bureau insurance, one must become a member and
therefore the Farm Bureau has a huge membership that generally knows nothing about the
policies they support, although the Farm Bureau certainly uses high membership numbers to
gain support for their positions. I have known many people that work in sustainable ag or
are interested in it that belong to Farm Bureau "just for the insurance". This, to me,
seems like an important issue for discussion on this network. Any comments?
