Farm Bureau is no friend of Sust. Ag.

To add to the earlier discussion of Farm Bureau support for the Sustainable
Ag. movement, it should be noted that if one's definition of Sust. Ag.
includes environmental sustainability and not just sustained economic
growth, the Farm Bureau is no friend of yours.

The Farm Bureau is presently one of the strongest anti-environmental
organizations in the country, allied with the Wise Use Movement in opposing
the Endangered Species Act and promoting "property rights" and "takings"
legislation, aimed at forcing the government to compensate anyone whose
polluting activities (profits) are limited by the law.

The Bureau is also leading the nationwide push for anti-1st amendment
"persishable food disparagment" legislation, that is aimed at silencing
debate on pesticides and food safety.

The Farm Bureau, FYI, is also opposed to the:
Equal Rights Amendment
Gay Rights
The Voting Rights Act of 1965
statehood for the District of Columbia
the Delaney Clause, which prohibits carcinogenic additives in processed foods

It defends its members against
grazing reform
the National Biological Survey
"one world government"
and the Clean Water Act

Says Farm Bureau Dean Kleckner,"to live, is to pollute"

'nuff said

Farm Bureau"
