CLUSTER FLIES

Every fall when the weather turns we have been afflicted by what we call
cluster flies, big fat lazy flies that are attracted to any enclosed
space that they call crawl into. They are not a problem in the open barns
and do not seem to be related to animal manure in the fields, but they
are thick in the shop and many find their way into the house. We have
earnestly attempted to block all paths into the house with caulking and
have been only moderately successful in reducing their numbers.. Does anyone
have knowledge of their life cycle and a method of effective non-toxic control
either within or without buildings.
