*My Father's Garden (video), 1995.* Miranda Productions,
Inc. Personal style documentary of U.S. farming follows
stories of two farmers, contrasting organic grain farm
in North Dakota with conventional citrus farm in
Florida. Reviews history of pesticide intensive
agriculture and presents farmers' perspectives of that

Offspring Fund. Investigates postharvest pesticide use
on variety of crops in developing and industrialized
countries, and emphasizes hazards of pesticide residues
to consumers and food processing workers. Crops examined
include bananas, pineapples, cherries, potatoes and

*Biological Control: Learning to Live with the Natural
Order (video), 1995.* National Biological Control
Institute. Educational film for elementary, middle- and
high-school students describes classical biological
control practices and history, and mentions hazards of

predator relationships pertinent to biological control,
including leaf miners and parasitic wasps, cottony
cushion scale and vedalia beatles, aphids and lacewings,

*Trading Our Lives Away, 1995.* Vandana Shiva.
Ecological and feminist analysis of free trade's human
and environmental impacts in developing countries points
out negative consequences of high-input agricultural
systems, including farmer disenfranchisement,
environmental degradation, declining food quality and
loss of biodiversity. Argues that people should
challenge governments for treating issues of ethics,
social justice and ecological stability as merely "trade
