I would like to post an announcement for a graduate student
assistantship available immediately to begin research at North
Carolina State University on a multidisciplinary team funded by the Sustainable Agriculture Research
and Education Program of the USDA.

Position: A Ph.D level graduate assistantship for 3 years

Qualifications: M.S. degree in plant pathology, nematology, soil
ecoloy, or related biological science

Stipend: $13,700 per year

Job Description: A Ph.D. level student is sought to begin "on farm "
studies to assess the impact of chemical and organic soil amendments
on soil quality in limited resource vegetable production systems.
The postion will require some travel to field sites in Maryland,
Virginia, and North Carolina (11 locations). Indiviual will work
with a multidisciplinary team of soil scientists, plant pathologists,
ecologists, statisticians, organic and conventional growers. An
independent individual with good analytical skills is required.
