I am presently member of a Swedish research group planning a large-scale
project concerned with sustainable agricultural production. If funded
(only a planning grant available so-far), the project is estimated to run
for at least 10 years, involving 15 groups of researchers. The project aims
to grasp a number of areas from soil sciences, crop and animal production
to production methods, product quality and consumer issues. My area of
responsibility in this project concerns consumer issues. I would appreciate
to get in contact with researchers doing work on consumer issues with
an environmental/sustainability angle. The planned project will deal
with consumer issues at least from two perspectives: food choice and the
consumer as an "environmental agent" (mainly recycling, composting). My
background is in psychology, notably the psychology of food choice.
Factors facilitating/hindering the adoption of environmentally friendly
life-styles is another of my interests. The main problem that we attempt
to attack within the consumer part of the project concerns factors
influencing the probability that consumers accept/prefer food items
produced within a sustainable agricultural production system, as well
as their willingness to accept an increased responsibility as
"environmental agents"
