Hello all,

As part of the Int. Symp. on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in
Amherst in August, 1995, we visited an interesting hydroponics
set-up called Bioshelters. In this scenario, a greenhouse houses
both a tilapia (fish) farm, and a basil production unit. Tilapia
are in tanks below, and hydroponics basil above. Water is
recirculated through the system, with the tilapia water supplying
nutrients to basil, and basil purifying the water. A contact to
reach this operation is Dr. Lyle Craker, Dept of Plant and Soil
Sci., U. Mass., Amberst, MA 01003. I'm sorry I don't have a phone
or E-mail number.
